Is one of your New Year’s resolutions to refine your coding skills? Or maybe you’re looking to learn more about cognitive computing technology? There’s no better way to do so than to engage in the Watson Coderpower Challenge!

Compete against the best and test your coding skills using the IBM Watson Developer Cloud services! We have developed three introductory coding challenges to test your skills and help you take your app to the next level.

The challenges:

Your objective in the competition is to help Nao find its friend, Missy; the challenge is accomplished by creating an AI. You will write an algorithm throughout the challenges, using the provided services and Nao’s abilities. By the end of the third challenge, Nao must be able to interact with people and its environment.

Challenge 1: Learn to move

  • In this first exercise, you must create a new function which allows Nao to move throughout the house.

Challenge 2: Understand your surroundings with Visual Recognition

  • In this second exercise, you must create a new feature to help Nao recognize its environment.

Challenge 3: Interact with humans using Watson Conversation

  • For this third and last exercise, you must develop a function that allows Nao to interact with humans and find Missy.

The contest officially kicked off on on Monday, January 9th at 12am PST, and will close on Monday, February 20th at 11:59pm PST. Get started now to finish all three challenges in time!
