Dutch Open Hackathon 2016 – First two days

Dutchies across the whole country gathered together to kick-off the legendary Dutch Open Hackathon on Friday, December 9th at CIC Rotterdam! Building on the successes of the last 2 Dutch Open Hackathon editions, 6 major Dutch organizations, 5 sponsors, and 6 partners organized this year’s 3rd edition.

The purpose of this hackathon is to encourage open innovation and technological process in the Netherlands by making exclusive data sets, APIs and hardware available for developers.

During this event, developers are challenged to come up with creative solutions and applications in 48 hours for practical, everyday challenges. The challenges are divided into 4 tracks and this year’s overall theme is “Data + Connection = Services”.

15 great ideas were pitched, 275+ participants and representatives from Politie, Post NL, Kamer van Koophandel, Philips, KLM and Schiphol. Everyone is ready to work and eager to win the fabulous trip to San Francisco!

Participants are brainstorming, and teams are beginning to form.


Thanks to our partners, Philips, Kamer van Koophandel, Politie, PostNL, KLM, and Schiphol, every team is supplied with a 50+ data and APIs to make their idea happen!


Day 1 of the #dutchhack16? It is the place to be! People from Germany, Belgium and Holland gathering making their ideas happen.
